Here's what I have so far for my newsletter, I'm a little stuck on where to place the images, any ideas guys?

  1. Hi, Elizabeth, nice work. I have some suggestion that you should take in consideration.
First in your newsletter cover, you can change the image to the left side of your page and make it bigger enough to fill the left side, use it without the stroke, you can use your logo on the top right of your page, and you can place your texts under your logo, in a position that the girl face will make with the readers eyes follow in direction of the Central Asia Institute Mission.
Next in your last page all them are suppose to be upside down, and the rectangle with the address is suppose to be on top of your logo and the postage paid. You can look at my and you will know what I meant to say.
In your two inside pages, you can make your strokes more thin, and add at least one image between your texts blocks.
The last is that I believe you don't have to show the page numbers in the first, and the last page.
    Have a good Day :).

  2. Hi Elizabeth! I think that your blue columns could be narrowed a lot to make more space; right now, they seem to be wasting space, unless you plan to something in that space and they're just placeholders, of course.

As for the photo locations, maybe you could make them kind of like hero images at the top? And on the cover, maybe you could move the masthead to be square above the Mission, and then either extend the photo above into the space where the masthead was, or perhaps put in another image?

I think overall, your design is extremely aesthetically pleasing, though. Good work!

  4. Elizabeth – I see lovely colors and a really beautiful masthead. Some thoughts:

    Cover
The masthead is being crowded by the top edge of the photo… please pull that photo down and consider bleeding it off the edge(s) of the page.

Body copy – too large, please reduce this bold sans serif and make sure to allow hyphenation… so your lines fill out more completely. The paragraphs are lost if you don’t indent them – please do this. Clearly, the drop caps on page 2/3 are not working well, so you shouldn’t use them.

Blue bars – these are the perfect places to hold photos. That’s where the photos should be – inside these areas and bleeding off the edges.

Pay attention to the back cover, and assemble the elements according to the handout I plan to send out to everyone (which you also have in the PDF handouts).

Looking forward to seeing your revisions.
