Here's my 960 Grid. I found this assignment very frustrating and annoyed but I did enjoy the challenge. I'm still new to Indesign but after looking at the VTC videos and doing the exercises it got a little easier. It's not great but it's better than my first composition. My biggest challenge was trying to figure out how I wanted the assignment it's self to looks. After looking around for a little inspiration I stumbled upon a poster I did last semester and I really I liked the way it looked but the design as whole wouldn't work because the text wouldn't be readable for my classmates, but the design it's self inspired me and gave me a new idea and approach to this assignment. After that the finding a typeface and style kind of clicked. The typefaces that I used for this assignment are
Helvetica Neue Ultra light, Medium and Light. I picked these fonts because I really like the clean crisp look of the font. It's not as good as my classmates, but it's a start. Please feel free to critique.

Elizabeth – you may not have had as much as experience with InDesign as some others, but your abilities will expand quickly by doing just what you have said you have done. Great. What I see if that you have successfully pulled the type onto the page, placed it on top of a photo, and changed the opacity of the text frame. A good beginning. The next step is designing it on the page, using the grid structure you have chosen from the master pages. I suggest that you use your process book to do thumbnail sketches of the design you would like to produce in InDesign. How should the type sit? It can’t travel from left to right across the whole page… because that is too far for a reader’s eye to return easily to continue to read. That is where the grid can help you. Another thing to think about is the size of type you have chosen… I suggest body copy be 9pt – 12pt for print, and 12pt – 16pt for web. This is web work… so enlarge your lovely Helvetica Neue body copy so we can read it, and consider what weight to use to “stand up” to that busy photo behind the type. Ultra light might be too light for this purpose. If you can show me what you intend to design, or come to class with specific InDesign questions – I’m happy to sit with you to show you how to accomplish it.
