My Project for this week. I had two versions, it was hard to choose between them so I published both of them.

  1. Elvis – Great work. I must say that my eyes are drawn to the second layout because of the cleverly turned headline, running up at a 90 degree angle. So – I’ll confine my feedback to that one. Also, I see that the colors you have used very much support the photo – it appears like they were drawn directly from the clothing in the photo. That’s a really good idea.

Question – do you need a stronger focal point? I’m wondering if some readers might look past your angled headline and read, instead “Women’s Education” – because it is simply easier to read? How can you strengthen “Projects Overseas” to make sure we pause to read it? Larger? Bolder? Running the red bar down further to hold a 1 line, large, heading that would encompass both sections. Not sure – I’m just throwing out suggestions.

Next – do the 2 large elements on the page seem a bit disconnected? I see that you have used a gradient blend in the background, which DOES lend some unity to the foreground elements - but is there an additional step you could take to pull the page elements together further? I’m wondering if a wide stripe, light colored, could move down the page from top to bottom behind both large elements… just something to think about.

Lastly – should the mid-blue behind the type be a bit lighter, to increase contrast and make the type a bit easier to read?

    Nice work.

  2. Elvis,
I really enjoyed the fact that you uploaded two different version, both of which are eye-catching. I like both of them for different reasons, so I can understand why you had a hard time choosing between them.

The first one – I really enjoy the simplicity of the layout. It shows good hierarchy as well as color contrast – ver easy to read and understand.

The second one – I most definitely like what you did with the main heading, but I feel like the angle it's at would be more suitable for the "Womens Education" headline just because it is a sub-heading.

    Overall, great work!

  3. Elvis, I agree that the second design draws my eye more. I love how you rotated the title, it draws our attention to that title first. I also really love the earthy toned colors you chose, it matches well with the photo. And the gradient background is also a very nice subtle touch. Great work!
