When I think of education, the color that come to my mind is
blue and black. Notebook and education goes together, and so I added in some
horizontal lines in the back. It didn’t look good, and it was conflicting with
other elements which lead to my decision to rotate it. As for the image, I
decide to use it to balance out the list toward the left.

Tru - This design is a successful design, well-balanced and interesting. The photo placement, as it rides above the bottom horizontal bands of color, adds depth to the layout. Nice.Your decision to use the stripes in the background on an angle is a good one. Because of the color palette you have chosen, the design looks quite serious – muted blue and black together will give that overall feel – and yet the photo livens it up a bit by adding a splash of brilliant color. As I said, this is an all around solid design.
ReplyDeleteSo – what can the grid encourage you to do from here? I would say the next step here is to break up the top paragraph into even columns – maybe 3 – according to the grid. The lines of text in this section are a bit long – an average line width usually holds between 6 – 10 words. I count 15 or so words in these lines– so this column width is a bit long – although not terribly. BUT – because I want you to use the grid more evidently in your work, consider making this adjustment and see what you think.
Tru,
ReplyDeleteGreat work. I really enjoy what you did with the striped background, its subtle enough to not take too much attention away from the text and picture but its enough to make the background not look dull or out of place. The colors work well together with this font and picture.
The only thing you could do differently is maybe breaking that paragraph at the top into two sections in a way it would work for this layout you've created.
Tru, very sophisticated design, which like you said, goes with the theme of education. I like the cool colors of blue you chose, it complements the image nicely. If anything, I would suggest trying to separate the text into multiple text boxes or maybe even just one more, just so the lines aren't so long.
