For this layout, I was kind of skeptical at first. I researched real web pages on my iPhone to get a better feel for this project.
As usual I took colors directly from the picture so that it would fit in with the overall look. I broke the main title apart and layered it, but also added drop shadows just to add a little definition to the page. I chose the handwritten font because it seems as though it fits the culture better than a proper looking typeface would. For the quote I used this font because I had the idea in my head that the person was actually writing the quote rather than just saying it.
I tried a few different things with this layout including having everything fit on the page instead of bleeding it off the page. I also used the picture very small in the layout rather than as a big background picture.

Nicole, first I really like the color choice, as you said they are pulled from the photo so it creates that sense of unity. I like the font choice and I love your reasoning for putting it as the quote font because it gives it more feeling. I like how you overlapped the title, but I was thinking instead of putting them in 2 separate boxes and giving them each a drop shadow, what if you put them in one text box, but still overlapped them with one word on top of the other just by simply indenting the second line? (Just a suggestion) Though I like you separated the hierarchy by making the subheading italicized, what if you made it bold as well, or maybe just a bit bigger so it separated even more from the main body text. I like the bullet choice, because it's pointing us in the direction to "read this!" I'm also not sure if you really need that vertical rule that's running in back of the picture. Overall, great work!
ReplyDeleteFirst thing first, Love the color choice; it is very pleasing and eye catching. I like what you did with the heading, where it over lapse each other. The only problem with it is that it kind of breakup the heading into 2 words, Instead of reading it as "Community Partnerships", I'm reading it as "Community" and "Partnerships". Feel like Partnerships is a subheading to Community. I like the handwritten style typeface for the quote, very nice touch. Overall, I like the design.
